Orange is hosting the world's weirdest developers conference in France, sleeping bags included at no extra charge.
European carrier Orange and several leading companies are hosting the Orange Code Camp in Poitiers, France this month, with developers literally camped out.
The three day event from 13 September to 15 September will provide the 250 attending developers with 24 hour access to developer personnel from Orange, Intel, Symbian, PalmSource, Microsoft, Sybase, and Sony Ericsson as well as a 3G laboratory site where they can develop and test applications to run on the new network. To ensure maximum time developing, Orange is providing all attendees with sleeping bags and wash kits so that they do not have to be bothered with such trivialities as going back to a hotel room to sleep.
Several companies are also sponsoring contests at the developer slumber party as well. The PalmSource developer contest will end at the event, with the first prize of a Segway Human Transporter going to the developer who creates the most compelling Palm OS wireless application. Nokia's Java Challenge is hosting several key developers to enhance and further develop their applications. Sony Ericsson will also be giving way 50 K700i camera phones as part of a sweepstakes.
Tickets for Orange Code Camp have now sold out. However, future Orange Code Camps are expected to take place in America, Europe and Asia over the next year.
