The Symbian OS Series 80 platform is the latest system to get support for the BlackBerry Connect push server from Research In Motion (RIM). Series 80 devices, such as the Nokia 9500, will now be supported by RIM's BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Internet Service offerings to corporations for push-based email and messaging to mobile devices.
Series 80 is the latest of several non-RIM platforms to be supported by the BlackBerry Connect program. PalmSource joined the program this spring, some models of mobile phones and smartphone from Motorola, Siemens and Samsung are slated to include a BlackBerry e-mail client, and Sprint has announced that it will offer phones supporting the service by the end of the year.
