Sprint to carry BlackBerry serviceBy Larry Garfield, Monday 16 August 2004
Sprint has announced that it intends to begin offering RIM's BlackBerry wireless service on its network sometime later this year. While the company does not appear to plan to carry the RIM BlackBerry communicator devices themselves, they will be supporting the BlackBerry service on select supported handheld devices. The BlackBerry Connect service allows 3rd party handset and handheld makers to support RIM's push-based messaging system and backend server on a variety of devices and platforms, now including all three major handheld and smartphone platforms.
