HP's first entry into the communicator market boasts the most connectivity options of any such device to date; Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, quad-band GSM/GPRS, and more.
HP has taken the lead in the connectivity department with the new HP iPAQ h6300 communicator, sporting triple wireless connectivity in addition to other features.

The new iPAQ h6300 runs Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition, but is more than just a phone. It's wide-area connectivity is provided by a quad-band GSM/GPRS radio, supporting 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks anywhere in the world. It also offers Bluetooth connectivity to connect to Bluetooth accessories such as a Bluetooth headset or to a Bluetooth base station. For still-more wireless, it also includes a Wi-Fi 802.11b radio. Included software stiches all three wireless systems together to allow the h6300 to automatically detect the fastest available network connection (Wi-Fi, then Bluetooth, then GPRS) and log onto that when required.
Other features are more typical of a high-end handheld or communicator, including a 0.3 megapixel VGA camera. The processor is only a 200 MHz Texas Instruments OMAP 1510, common to many handhelds today, and it includes only 64 MB of RAM (55 MB user-accessbile) to share between active and storage space. It also includes 64 MB of ROM, however. Supplementary storyage is available courtesy of an included SD card slot, although there is no Compact Flash slot to round-out the connectivity offerings. The display is a standard 240 x 320 QVGA 16-bit color TFT. A swappable 1800 mAh Lithium Ion battery provides power for all three wireless systems.
The iPAQ h6300 is available through T-Mobile in the United States. T-Mobile manages both a GSM/GPRS network and a network of Wi-Fi "hot spots" around the country to provide high-speed access. It will be available starting 26 August for $599.99 USD with service agreement.
