| Nokia today announced a stylish, folding camera phone - the Nokia 6170 - to its mid-range portfolio. Enhanced with a stainless steel finish, the tri-band Nokia 6170 will be available in two versions: a GSM 900/1800/1900 primarily for the European and Asian markets, and a GSM 850/1800/1900 primarily for the Americas.
An external 96 x 65 screen offers up to 4,096 colors - providing information on incoming calls, date and time, and phone status. The 128 x 160 internal display features up to 65,536 colors, optimized for browsing via XHTML as well as providing a medium for color pictures and video clips, which can be captured on the integrated VGA camera. With complete MMS capability, the Nokia 6170 will let the user share images with friends and colleagues.
Equipped with EDGE, the Nokia 6170 aims to deliver information more quickly, including live streaming video, news clips and travel guides. Calendar and contacts can be synchronized wirelessly, while presence enhanced contacts informs colleagues about the user's availability and whereabouts.
The Nokia 6170 offers up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 270 hours of standby time, while shipments are expected to start in fourth quarter 2004. The unsubsidized retail price excluding taxes is expected to be around 250 EUR.
