LG Electronics releases VX3200By Larry Garfield, Tuesday 11 May 2004
Before the ink is dry on its last product launch, LG Electronics has released another handset, this time aimed at the entry-but-stylish market.

Hot on the heels of its mid-range VX4600, LG Electronics has released a more entry-level phone, the VX3200.

The VX3200, simple and elegant
The VX3200 is a tri-band PCS/CDMA/AMPS flip-phone, compatible with both digital and older analog networks. Measuring 85 x 46 x 23.3 mm and weighing 99 grams, the VX3200 is backed by a 1000 mAh Lithium Ion battery rated at 3.3 hours of talk time or 7.5 days standby time. Inside, the phone sports a color LCD and a blue-backlit keypad set below a 5-way D-pad. It also includes a USB port for connecting to a PC.

As an entry-level phone, the VX3200 includes a now-standard feature set. Besides basic phone functionality, it supports both SMS and EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service), as well as 99 speed dial and 99 voice dial entries out of an address book of 300. Audiophiles should enjoy support for up to 36 polyphonic ring tones, while theater-goers will enjoy the vibrate mode. For customization fans, the VX3200 includes both English and Spanish language menus, customizable wallpapers, themes, and variable font colors. Text input is via T9. The phone also includes a basic calendar, 4-minute voice memo program, note pad, alarm clock, normal and tip calculators, and world clock.

The VX3200 is available exclusively through Verizon Wireless in the United States for $39.99 USD after a $50 USD mail-in rebate with a 2-year service agreement. Meanwhile, LG Electronics has also stated that their entire product lineup for 2004 will use color LCDs, even on entry-level models.

An additional high-resolution image of the VX3200 is available on the following page.
