LG Electronics releases VX4600By Larry Garfield, Thursday 6 May 2004
LG Electronics has released an update to its popular VX4400 with the new LG VX4600, a CDMA clamshell with a stylish flair.

LG Electronics has announced its new VX4600 handset, offering a number of features from messaging to an external OEL display with a stylish design. A clamshell style phone, the VX4600 sports a 65k color LCD screen on the interior and an Organic Electro-Luminescent (OEL) exterior display to indicate incoming calls, voice mails, and text messages. Weighing 95.5 grams and measuring 87.1 x 29.9 x 24.1 mm, the VX4600 is quite small but includes a number of features.

The VX4600 is a stylish clamshell design
The VX4600's radio is dual-band, 1.9 GHz PCS / 800 MHz CDMA. It features both SMS and Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS). Multimedia support includes both polyphonic ring tones and downloadable pictures and wallpaper. The 950 mAh Lithium Ion battery is rated for 3.5 hours talk time or 129 hours standby time. The phone supports voice-activated dialing as well as 99 speed dial numbers, and includes a 5-way navigator and blue backlit number pad.

The phone also includes the Openwave UP 4.1 web browser and BREW support for downloadable games and other applications. Also included is a basic PIM suite with calendar, voice memo, notepad, a calculator, tip calculator, alarm clock, and world clock.

The VX4600 is available exclusively through Verizon Wireless in the United States. The price is $69.99 USD with 2 year activation or $119.99 USD with one year activation.
