1.3 megapixel is not just for Symbian OS smartphones; Samsung SGH-i250 runs Windows Mobile 2003 and offers up hi-res imaging and more in a compact clamshell format.
At this year's CeBIT 2004 fair in Hannover, Samsung offered early peeks at a number of new smartphone models, based on each of the three platforms dominating this space: Palm OS, Symbian OS and Windows Mobile. The latter was represented by the SGH-i250, a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz clamshell model equipped with GPRS Class 10, and chalks up a first in the world of Windows Mobile smartphones through the inclusion of a 1.3 megapixel digital camera.

The standard set of pre-installed applications are included with the handset, which offers a generous 64 MB of ROM coupled with 32 MB of RAM. Not so common for Windows Mobile smartphones, however, the SGH-i250 also offers full support for J2ME MIDP 2.0, as well as speaker-independent voice dialing and navigation, integrated Bluetooth and a miniSD slot for memory expansion purposes.
Furthermore, the SGH-i250 also boasts high-quality dual colour screens, both of which offer up to 65,536 colours and are based on TFT technology.
Samsung representatives on site declined to offer further information on the expected availability and pricing of the model, stating only that the model might hit shelves some time in 2004.
