Siemens goes small with the new PenPhone, the first ever tri-band mobile phone housed in the unusual shape of a pen and offering all the features of a standard mobile phone. The 140 mm long PenPhone recognizes handwriting for dialing numbers and writing text messages directly into the mobile phone – no matter what surface the user writes on. Even if no writing surface is available, built-in voice recognition means you can activate the PenPhone. Additional features include an integrated loudspeaker and handsfree function and using its Bluetooth interface, users can connect wirelessly to their PDA or headset.
Siemens mobile also presents a new set top box for the home. The Gigaset Interactive TV is the first-ever DVB receiver which allows one to receive MMS pictures and messages that are sent from mobile phones and cordless phones to the television set at home via the fixed line number. The box combines high quality digital interactive TV and wireless broadband communication in one small device. Incoming calls are displayed on the TV screen leaving you the option to interrupt the film and take the call or reject the call to resume the TV pleasure undisturbed.
MMS gets creative with the Bluetooth Advanced Pen Input MMI. Draw and annotate on picture messages to create individual postcards or cartoons and add a personal touch in one's own handwriting using the ‘Natural Notes’ software. Graphics and words are automatically scaled to send via MMS.
With the new QWERTY Virtual Keypad a keyboard can be projected onto any flat surface using laser technology to let users write text messages quickly and easily. The message automatically appears on the mobile phone’s display and gives the advantage of a laptop keyboard even on a compact mobile phone.
Siemens also presents the Remote Memory Device in the form of a small hard disk. Saved MP3 music files can be listened to via Bluetooth stereo headset and, with the Bluetooth interface, wireless exchange between a headset, PC, laptop, mobile phone, PDA and digital camera is possible. In addition, the Remote Memory Device also provides Ethernet access for data transfer between networks. For appliances with limited memory such as digital camera, a mobile phone or a PDA, the device offers extra space.
