Five new mobile phones from AlcatelBy Sindre Lia, Friday 27 February 2004
Alcatel unveiled five new mobile phones at the 3GSM World Congress, ranging from low-end to high-end phones.

Starting with the high-end phones, the Alcatel One Touch 756 is a tri-band phone sporting a TFT 262 000 color screen, an integrated digital camera with video recording capabilities, MMS and Java (MIDP 2.0) support, as well as GPRS class 10 support. The One Touch 756 will be available in Europe in June 2004.

The One Touch 835 with its two high definition color screens (262 000 colors on the inside and 65 000 on the outside) is Alcatel's first handset with a clamshell design and weighs 88 g. It is equipped with an integrated VGA camera that can record short video clips, and animated images can be used to personalize the contacts in the phonebook. The One Touch 835 comes with MMS, four games and supports GPRS class 10. The Alcatel One Touch 835 will be available in Europe in April 2004.

The tri-band One Touch 556, equipped with a VGA camera and a high quality color screen, enables the user to watch, receive, download and send videos, and is claimed to have a large internal memory. This handset also comes with Java MIDP 2.0 and GPRS class 10 support. The Alcatel One Touch 556 will be available in Europe in September 2004.

The One Touch 735i is a mobile phone with an integrated camera and is equipped with Java MIDP 2.0 technology to download games and applications. It has been designed for game-playing comfort; this includes being able to play games in landscape mode with an "action" button for the right hand and a central browsing button for the left hand. The One Touch 735i also boasts an integrated digital camera and MMS support. The Alcatel One Touch 735i is available now in Europe.

The One Touch 332a is a mobile telephone intended for the Latin American markets. It is equipped with a 4096-color screen and offers various functions such as SMS, EMS and WAP as well as numerous polyphonic ring tones and images for personal customization. Being compact and weighing only 77g, this model is aimed at the low-end market. The Alcatel One Touch 332a will be available in Latin America in April 2004.
