Philips 355, 759 and 755 handsets introducedBy Sindre Lia, Thursday 26 February 2004
Philips introduces the 355 messaging phone, joined by the 755 and 759 touch-screen models - all featuring high-end colour displays capable of showing up to 65,536 colours.

The Philips 355 sports a 16-bit color screen showing up to eight lines of text, an integrated CIF digital camera with night mode, as well as support for MMS and SMS. According to Philips, a brand new messaging interface has been developed for this phone, simplifying the number of steps required to write and send an SMS message.

Philips' 755 features a built-in touch screen
The 355 phone also includes Philips’ BeDJ application, which lets users create, store and share up to nine distinctive music mixes from either downloaded WAP sources or MMS, or tracks and sound embedded in the phone.

The Philips 355 weighs 82 g and offers operating times of up to four hours talk time and up to 400 hours standby time. The new phone will be introduced in Europe in the course of the second quarter of 2004 in selected countries.

The 759 and 755 models, both tri-band, feature Philips’ 'Snap, Tag & Send' concept for sending (via MMS) personalized photos, drawings and even handwritten notes to family and friends thanks to the built-in touch screen.

Both phones feature integrated VGA cameras with night mode to let users snap a picture, 'tag' a message by writing or drawing directly on the touch screen, and send it to a friend. It’s also possible to record sound clips and add them to MMS messages. Captured images can be edited on the phone itself using its built-in Creative Photo Editor software, while images can be transformed with color effects, sepia tones, grayscale images or negative colors.

A sizeable 7 MB of memory is also present in both the 759 and 755, as are 128 x 160 TFT displays capable of displaying up to 65,536 colours. The 755 will be available in Silver Alloy, Bright Aluminum and Red Metal color finishes, the 759 will be available in an Aero Silver, Orange Spray, and Red Touch color scheme.

The 759 and 755 weigh 89 g each, and offer talk times of up to five hours and standby times of up to 250 hours. Both models will according to Philips be introduced in selected European countries in the course of the third quarter of this year.
