Top phone flirts of 2003 revealed by LG. Warning: cheesy lines ahead.
It seems that bluejacking is not the only nascent mobile phone trend: text flirting, and phone flirting more generally, is becoming the latest phenomenon across America.
Mobile phone manufacturer LG has concluded its Text in the City competition to find the biggest text flirt across America, and has revealed not only a number of innovative uses of technology but also some of the worst pickup lines in the history of mankind.
Gone are the days of swapping phone numbers - now, winner Jennifer Cohn of Manhattan uses her camera phone as a flirting tool: "Can I snap your picture so I can show Santa what I gotta have for X-mas?" was her winning line.
The biggest form of phone-flirting seems to be the text message, with its punchy 160 characters the perfect length for a cheesy or romantic line. Of course, there's still the issue of how to get the girl's (or boy's) number in the first place.
Winners of the competition have picked up more than just partners - they've also won a VX6000 camera phone courtesy of LG, and a celebrity makeover and night out to boot.
