Sony Ericsson accessorize to the maxBy Anthony Newman, Wednesday 3 September 2003
New Sony Ericsson accessories include a miniature car remote controlled by means of Bluetooth and a clip-on console style gamepad.

Sony Ericsson today announced two new unique accessories for their mobile phones. The Gameboard EGB-10 is an attachable game controller which is intended to give a true console-style feeling to playing mobile games. The Bluetooth CAR-100 is a small race-car that can be controlled with a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, which is certainly a unique surprise as far as phone accessories go. Gamers will recognise the form and features of the Gameboard EGB-10, featuring an 8-way control on the left side and four action-buttons on the right, for full two-handed game operation. Different features, such as ‘shoot’, ‘jump’, ‘brake’, etc can be assigned to the action buttons.

The Gameboard is compatible with, and easy to attach to, the Z600 mobile phone and together with the rich colour screen, polyphonic sound and force feedback, gives a mobile gaming experience which is closer to a ‘real’ game console experience. Sony Ericsson emphasise the V-Rally game preloaded on the Z600, which leads us to the next accessory.

For the ones who want to experience car racing outside of the phone, the limited-edition Bluetooth CAR-100 is the perfect accessory for a Sony Ericsson Bluetooth phone. Not much larger than a matchbox, this little speedster has two gears and can be navigated from up to 10 meters’ distance with a phone’s keypad or joystick.

Ill: Sony Ericsson

Both the Gameboard and the Bluetooth car will be available in Winter 2003, although pricing is not yet announced.
