Swisscom Mobile and TOGEWAnet recently announced a field trial of the technical integration of TOGEWAnet's WeRoam services with Swisscom Mobile's back office services for GSM and WLAN services. Based on software from Transat Technologies that supports SIM based authentication and billing within WLAN, WeRoam enables network roaming using the existing SS7 inter-operator signaling infrastructure.

According to the two companies, the end-user experience is akin to using a mobile phone - whichever network he or she is on, the laptop or PDA will authenticate with the "home" network, and create a billing record in the home network. The user is not required to intervene with username or password, or carry out any other authentication procedures.">
