Stephenson Strategies' new anti-terrorism planner for Palm OS and Pocket PC handhelds aims to aid U.S. citizens in preparing for and responding to terrorism actions.
As the risk of terror actions being carried out in the U.S. - and likely in the countries of other coalition participants as well - increases due to war in Iraq, Stephenson Strategies has released the first handheld anti-terrorism application. A planner compatible with both Palm OS and Pocket PC handhelds, the application summarizes information the company says people "need to prepare for and respond to terrorism".
The "Terrorism Survival Plan", as the planner is called, is intended to be installed on Palm OS and Pocket PC handhelds for users to always carry vital information concerning how to react to terrorist activities. Stephenson Strategies said the planner aims to remove the need to consult paper booklets or call officials, in turn reducing panic and letting first-responders concentrate on those most in need.
Stephenson Strategies said it culled and created terse summaries of information from hundreds of pages of publications issued by the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, several state and local governments, government guides in the UK, Japan, and Israel, plus other sources to create the application.
With more than 700 entries, the databases stored in the planner cover topics such as preparing emergency supply kits and family communication plans; alternative plans to evacuate or "shelter in place" depending on the threat; and advice on what to do immediately following a terrorist attack. It also includes information sources and emergency contact phone numbers for every U.S. state.
The two first modules, survival planning and response, are priced at $3.95 USD each, or bundled for $5.95 USD. Free revisions will be issued as new information and threats warrant, with a module on foreign and domestic travel precautions slated for release later this spring.
