iGo Pitches Bluetooth projectorBy Larry Garfield, Saturday 22 March 2003
Bluetooth is the future for many accessories. Here comes yet another, the iGo Pitch Duo Bluetooth/IR projector. Who needs wires when you can walk around the entire room for a presentation without line-of-site?

iGo and Mobility Electronics have jointly announced the newest version of the iGo Pitch line, the iGo Pitch Duo. The Pitch Duo is a Palm-to-projector adapter with a unique feature: It connects via Bluetooth.

Pitch Duo is the first projector-connection device to allow users to give presentations over Bluetooth. This wireless capability allows the presenter to move about the room without worrying about either wires or line-of-site. It is compatible with Palm OS 4 and above devices, including the Palm Tungsten T. Users synchronize their presentation from their computer to their handheld or smartphone over HotSync. Once on location and ready to present, they connect the Pitch Duo to a video projector or monitor and start the presentation from their device, connecting and communicating with Pitch Duo using a Bluetooth connection. Without wires tethering them to a projector or monitor, the presenter can roam the room giving and controlling their presentation from their handheld. With the accompanying Quickpoint software, part of CES' Quickoffice suite, users can also view their presentation notes or any one of three other views -- full slide, outline, or thumbnail -- on their device, while their audience sees only the slide show.

The Pitch Duo supports resolutions up to 1024x768 pixels in color. Users can edit the presentation on their handheld to hide and reorder slides, and edit slide notes. Users can control a presentation over Bluetooth, Infrared, or a cable, and the Pitch Duo includes PS/2 ports for connecting a keyboard and mouse to allow for text and pointer input as well. The Pitch Duo includes iDisplay, for showing the Palm screen itself on the projector, and the full version of CES' Quickoffice Pro. It ships with its own travel case for the Pitch and included power adapter. Because it connects wirelessly, it leaves any expansion slot on the handheld free for a flash card, holding, for instance, the presentation.

The Pitch Duo will be available in April for $279.99 USD.
