metered plans with a montly data transfer limit. The change is due to increased costs from Palm's service provider, Cingular. Current subscribers using the unlimited plan will be transitioned to other plans as their contracts expire, and Palm will also be trying to move users over to the new Palm Tungsten W as soon as it becomes available.

Palm.Net is Palm's pager-based network service for the Palm VII, VIIx, and i705 handhelds. It offers a fast-setup, low-speed connection to Palm.Net's proxy services, which do not include full Internet access. The service itself is independent of the web clipping system and proxy server, which can run on other networks as well. The Palm.Net service has never been a big success for Palm, and it is likely that Palm is also trying to move customers over to more standard services such as GSM/GPRS with the Palm Tugsten W.">

No more all-you-can-Palm.NetBy Larry Garfield, Thursday 23 January 2003
Palm is discontinuing its unlimited bandwith plan for its Palm.Net service. Palm will continue to offer three remaining metered plans with a montly data transfer limit. The change is due to increased costs from Palm's service provider, Cingular. Current subscribers using the unlimited plan will be transitioned to other plans as their contracts expire, and Palm will also be trying to move users over to the new Palm Tungsten W as soon as it becomes available.
