Adult content heats up on Pocket PCsBy Jørgen Sundgot, Tuesday 10 December 2002
Private Media is planning to bring uncensored adult content to Pocket PCs in the shape of slideshows, video clips and adult games delivered on MMC cards in early 2003.

Handheld users have to a large degree avoided the attention of the adult industry - to the joy of some and to the dismay of others. Not longer so, though, as one of the major industry players, Private Media Group, has decided to begin targeting this market by launching adult content products of various kinds for Pocket PCs early in 2003.

To be delivered on MMC cards, Private Media Group says its "user-friendly product features full-color video clips, adult games and multimedia stories with high quality color slideshows and digital audio." Initially, software provided on the cards will run on handhelds based on Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system, however Private Media leaves little doubt that the company will target other handheld platforms in due time.

Charles Prast, President and CEO of Private Media Group commented: "We believe that this product is unique not only in the adult market but also across traditional media in terms of technology and functionality. Private has always aimed to be first in providing its high quality adult content over new forms of distribution and is proud to have achieved first-mover advantage in the lucrative hand-held marketplace.

According to Private Media, the cards have been developed in cooperation with some of the world's leading experts in video compression and PDA software, however names of these experts were not mentioned. The company also said initial products will be based on Private's existing adult content, including top stars and blockbuster movies.
