PalmSource, the subsidiary of Palm, Inc., today announced that it has joined Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), a mobile industry body dedicated to removing barriers to global user adoption and ensuring seamless mobile application interoperability. The OMA was formed in June 2002 by approximately 200 companies representing the world's leading mobile operators, device and network suppliers, information technology companies and content providers.

As a member of the alliance, PalmSource said the company will further the efforts it began as a founding member of the SyncML Initiative, an open standards group that drives data mobility. As announced in June 2002, SyncML consolidated its activities into the Open Mobile Alliance.">
