Owners of Nokia mobile phones are no longer the only ones with a club devoted exclusively to their brand any longer; Sony Ericsson mobile phone owners, meet Club-SonyEricsson.
Nokia Club has, thanks to Nokia's eager efforts to push it as a content destination for owners of Nokia mobile phones, become quite a success story. The club, exclusive to owners of Nokia mobile phones, provides all kinds of various content including ringtones, logos, WAP cartoons and whatnot - but the great disappointment of many, its exclusivity barrs owners of other mobile phone brands from accessing it.
For owners of Sony Ericsson mobile phones, things are now looking up as enthusiast Henrik Strand recently established www.club-sonyericsson.com, a website dedicated to Sony Ericsson mobile phones and content for these. Although not officially connected to Sony Ericsson, the website, dubbed Club-SonyEricsson, is according to itself allowed to use the official Sony Ericsson logo - which implies that there has been contact between the two and that Sony Ericsson endorses the effort.
Sony Ericsson has no similar offering of its own, nor has the manufacturer announced any plans to make available such an offering, but several recent news releases indicates that the company seeks to draw on already established Sony brand names for entertainment. Likely, Sony Ericsson will establish a portal of its own dedicated to its handsets at some point in time, however currently the company is more likely to be occupied with maintaining its market share under pressure from Nokia, Siemens, Motorola and others.
The Club-SonyEricsson website offers among other content screensavers, themes, backgrounds, ringtones and software for recent Sony Ericsson models, along with news and discussion areas where readers can be kept up-to-date on the latest buzz regarding Sony Ericsson and chat about their handsets.
