Audiovox' latest handset, the 9155-GPX, provides not only connectivity to CDMA2000 1xRTT networks but also offers positioning services through integrated gpsOne support.
As CDMA2000 1xRTT networks are growing increasingly common, the need for handsets that can shift data at speeds of up to 144 Kbps grows imminent. So far, there hasn't been any lack of handsets - and Audiovox Communications is doing its part to help prevent shortages with its new 9155-GPX handset which not only supports 1xRTT but also gpsOne positioning services.

| Currently shipping to carriers, the 9155-GPX is a CDMA tri-mode (800 MHz CDMA, 1900 MHz PCS and 800 MHz AMPS), web-enabled, CDMA2000 1X-capable handset equipped with the MSM5100 chipset that provides gpsOne-based location positioning. gpsOne enables wireless carriers to pinpoint the geographic location of a caller who dials 911 emergency services on a system-compatible handset.
"The 9155-GPX is one of the first wireless phones available, anywhere, to combine GPS location positioning, which complies with the FCC’s E-911 directives, and high-speed CDMA2000 1X wireless connectivity," said Philip Christopher, Audiovox Communications President and CEO.
The 9155-GPX enables high speed wireless connectivity of up to 144 Kbps for web browsing, email and mobile e-commerce functions, as well as simultaneous reception of audio, video and text data. The handset also features the UP 4.1 browser, providing WAP browsing services, two-way short message service (SMS), voice-activated dialing, vibrating alert, 11 melody ringer, 4 ringtone selections and a two-way speakerphone.
Manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 9155-GPX handset is $299 USD.
