Intel and Symbian have completed the optimization of the latest version of Symbian's operating system for data-enabled mobile phones, Symbian OS version 7.0, to support Intel applications processors based on the Intel XScale technology. Intel and Symbian have completed the optimization of the latest version of Symbian's operating system for data-enabled mobile phones, Symbian OS version 7.0, to support Intel applications processors based on the Intel XScale technology. Symbian and Intel plan to ship a board support package including the Symbian OS version 7.0 to help developers accelerate the process of designing next-generation mobile phones and applications utilizing these technologies. No announcements were made regarding whether any manufacturers have plans to release products based on Symbian OS 7.0 and Intel XScale processors.
