A new company on the block, called PoGo! Products, has created two new 8 and 16 MB memory expansion modules in Springboard format with silent alarm and vibrating functionality.
Handspring's Springboard expansion format has yet to be adapted by any other manufacturers, but that hasn't stopped an amazing number of various modules of appearing, adding all sorts of functions to handhelds in Handspring's Visor series. In the new Treo line of palm-sized communicators from the company, the Springboard expansion slot is gone due to space constraints, but that doesn't mean that the Springboard format is old news in any way.

Pogo! Products' new DataQuake Springboard module is available in 8MB and 16MB versions, and provides memory expansion for Visor handhelds as well as silent alarm functionality, the latter of which is a feature until recently only found in Handspring's Visor Edge model. It also includes vibration and a flashing LED to add the illusion of rumbles, thuds and explosions to games.
The DataQuake allows people to store applications and data with the extra memory and included File Mover application, and introduced what in some situations could be direly needed handheld etiquette by silencing inappropriate audible alarms. This is achieved by setting the handheld to a visual LED alert, or one of three vibrating alerts, any time where chirps and beeps are not appropriate - such as during movies or meetings.
"The DataQuake Springboard module offers our Visors customers much more than extra memory. It makes gaming on Visors more fun and interesting with the vibration feature, and it also brings the convenience of a silent, blinking alarm," said Rita Sharma, business development manager for Handspring.
PoGo! Products says it will bring to market all the best ideas in cutting edge gadgets and accessories, ranging from expansion modules for the popular Handspring Visor handhelds, to must-have electronic tools for work, and toys for play that will appeal to consumers' deepest "must have" instincts.
DataQuake is available immediately for $69.00 USD for the 8MB version and $99.00 USD for the 16MB version.
