Olympus E-PL1
Following the success of the mighty PEN, Olympus decided it was time to release a beginner-friendly model for the masses. We get a hearty serving of manual controls and a funky built-in flash as well. Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10
Lined right up against the Olympus E-PL1 sits the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10, another viable option for novices near and far. However, the gap widens when we consider the fact that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10 has a built-in Electronic Viewfinder, larger LCD, more intuitive external controls, and a slight edge in video quality. For the advanced shooter looking to juice the most out of their photographic experience, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10 is the better bet over the Olympus E-PL1. Full review »
Olympus E-P2
We're listing the Olympus E-PL1 because it offers the same features as the E-PL1, only it adds a spinning control ring and barrel and a few more external controls. Bafflingly, the Olympus E-P2 is devoid of a flash, and the camera's guts are pretty much identical to the rest of the PEN lineup. For that, the E-P2 is justifiable only if you want the best PEN camera on the market and crave retro style. Otherwise, Panasonic is the way to roll for advanced photographers. Full review »
