Dell Lightning, Thunder and Flash Smartphones Leaked

The Dell Thunder and Dell Flash are powered by Android OS while the Dell Lightning will ship with Windows Phone 7. Check out what they'll offer inside.
Engadget has posted leaked documents of three upcoming high-end smartphones by Dell, including the Dell Thunder powered by Android 2.1, Dell Flash powered by Android Froyo and the Dell Lightning powered by Windows Phone 7. The Thunder and Lightning are also powered by 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, and will offer 7.2Mbps / 5.76Mbps HSPA connectivity. Furthermore, the Thunder and Lightning will sport 4.1-inch WVGA OLED touchscreens manufactured by Samsung. The Dell Flash will sport a 800 MHz Qualcomm processor, and will offer 14.4 Mbps / 5.76 Mbps HSPA connectivity.
Dell Lightning
With Windows Phone 7 running on the Dell Lightning, Dell will provide a fully integrated Zune and Zune Marketplace with on-the-fly playlist creation and content management. It'll also give you access to Microsoft's new gaming experience with connected gaming through Xbox Live.
Furthermore, Dell says the following about the Dell Lightning browser experience:
High performance Bing-powered browsing built from the desktop-based experience. Fast page load and rendering. Multi-touch Pinch Zoom, Panning and Double-tap makes getting there that much quicker and viewing that much better. Full support of Flash, Flash Video and Silverlight.
Targeting Busy Professionals
The Dell Lightning will be targeting busy professionals, and as such also incorporates a full QWERTY keyboard in a portrait slider form factor. Dell says the following about its producitivty experience:
Ubiquitous connectivity for unified communications, collaboration and life management. Filter and manage your inbox, take multi-message actions in e-mail, conduct several conversations at once and manage your work and personal calendars from anywhere at anytime. Cloud based auto-sync, back-up and remote management ensures your data is protected from damage or loss. Email support for Exchange, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, POP3/IMAP. Simple set-up of multiple business or personal email accounts with seamless synchronization with Outlook Mobile and the ability to work with ActiveSync to retrieve and synchronize emails from Exchange-based systems.
The Dell Lightning will also sport a 5-megapixel autofocus camera, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, 1GB Flash ROM + 512MB DDR SDRAM, microSD card slot and a 1400 mAh battery. There's also a 3.5mm audio jack, and the Dell Lightning measures 121.6 by 64.4 by 14.9 mm.
Dell Thunder
The Dell Thunder will feature Dell's new Stage UI, where Exchange ActiveSync for corporate messaging and the new Swype text entry system will be part of the package. It'll also offer an active homescreen, which is described as follows:
Dell's exclusive, customizable user interface let's you tell a story and connects you to what matters in your life. Core tiles and customized components like a Shortcut Bar, Application Drawer and Notification bar help you navigate with ease and get to "your stuff" easily and quickly".
Integrated Hulu experience
Supporting Flash 10.1, the Dell Thunder promises that users will be able to take advantage of the 4.1-inch display by streaming videos via the integrated web video Hulu app, or see what's on YouTube. It should also come pre-loaded with a streaming radio app.
As far as sharing is concerned, Dell says the following about the Dell Thunder:
Thunder gives you everything you need to share your life with friends and family - as it happens with perfect clarity. The 8MP imager captures moments in sharp photos and video. The on-board photo and video editor gives you the creative freedom to be larger than life! And of course, sharing to your favorite social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter is just a tap away.
Store data in the cloud
Dell also promises that the Dell Thunder will provide a new cloud service:
With Thunder, you no longer have to worry about losing data or finding enough storage space for your works of art and important documents. Unlimited support from the Cloud lets you conveniently store and retrieve your data from any location that has Internet access.
The Dell Thunder will be targeting early adopters and influencers of technology, sporting a design with proprietary curved glass with the aim of providing cutting-edge style and premium finish.
Dell Flash
The main differences between the Dell Thunder and Dell Flash will be the latter's Android Froyo system with Stage UI, 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and video recording, as well as a microSDXC card slot with support for up to 64GB cards.
The Dell Flash also offers a range of connectivity options, including USB, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g with UPnP/DLNA, AGPS, 3.5mm audio jack and Bluetooth 3.0.
The 5-megapixel camera is promised to offer high-quality resolution video capturing, and will also get built-in smile, blink detection, image stabilization and face recognition. There are also features like TV-Out, one touch push of recorded video to your favorite sites or home page.
Android Froyo's new browser
Furthermore, Dell says the following about the Flash 10.1 supported browser to be found in the Dell Flash and its Android Froyo system:
Full PC-like browsing experience including an actionable browser URL bar, bookmarks with web page thumbnails and smooth high quality video and graphics with interactive support for pinch, scroll, rotate, scale and double-tap zoom. Support of HTML5 enables faster rendering, viewing and streaming performance for more expressive experiences all while conserving battery power for the other important tasks you want to do.
Adobe AIR applications
Courtesy of Android Froyo, the Dell Flash should also support Adobe AIR applications with multi-touch gesturing:
Live Wallpapers provide a dynamic interface that delivers an uncompromised, immersive experience and built-in Adobe Flash 10.1 support enables enhanced user desired capabilities such as multi-touch gesturing for unprecedented creative control and expressiveness.
It's worth mentioning that Android Froyo will also provide handwriting recognition.
Price and release date
There are no specific price tags or release dates for the Dell Thunder, Dell Flash and Dell Lightning, other than late 2010 releases for the Lightning and Thunder and an early 2011 release for the Flash. That said, the Dell Lightning will come in two versions: One supporting AT&T's 3G network and one supporting T-Mobile's 3G network. The Dell Flash will be supporting AT&T's 3G network. As a minimum Dell will sell these phones unlocked to AT&T and T-Mobile customers.
