Details about iGroups for iPhone, a new social app / service by Apple, has been revealed through patent documents.
Patently Apple has a lengthy report on iGroups for iPhone, a new iPhone social app / service that Apple is currently developing. The blog says that the idea is to allow groups of friends or colleagues attending such events as a concert, a tradeshow, business meeting, wedding or rally to stay in communication with each other as a group to share information or reactions to live events as they're occurring.
iGroups for iPhone will also provide a more secure way of exchanging information between for instance Bluetooth-enabled iPhones, and will incorporate a cryptographic key generation system to ensure security and privacy of a user's communication. iGroups will also connect to a centralized cloud service. According to Patently Apple, this could be an extension of Apple's MobileMe service.
