Following an earlier leak of iPhone OS 4.0 providing new ways of letting applications run in the background, AppleInsider reports that Apple has developed a "full-on solution" to multi-tasking on the iPhone OS.
According to AppleInsider's source, Apple plans to deliver a multi-tasking manager that leverages interface technology already bundled with Mac OS X. Since the iPhone OS 4.0 is currently under development, it's not yet ready for prime time, according to AppleInsider.
Given Apple's focus on preserving battery life to date, it's not unlikely to believe that iPhone OS 4.0 will be targeting Apple products that are powered by multi-core capable processors, such as the ARM Cortex A9. This could also mean that iPhone OS 4.0 may not be released in 2010, which kind of is in line with AppleInsider's source.
