Sony Ericsson introduces new Android and Symbian smartphones boasting compact form factors and slide-out QWERTY keypads.
During a press event at the Mobile World Congress, Sony Ericsson unveiled three new smartphones: the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro. The first two will be Android smartphones, while the Vivaz Pro will be a Symbian smartphone. All three phones will be available in the first half of 2010. Check out a comparison of specifications here.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro sport a 2.6-inch touchscreen, and customizable software shortcuts in each corner of the home screen will give users instant access to favorite tasks. The phones will also incorporate a 5-megapixel camera, 3.5mm audio jack and a 600 MHz processor. Both phones will also include Timescape, which keeps Facebook, Twitter, messages and calls in one place. Unlike the Mini, the Mini Pro will also offer a slide-out QWERTY keypad. The user interface for these phones are also optimized for one-hand usage, making them strong competitors to traditional cell phones. Both the Mini and Mini Pro will be released in Q2 2010.
Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro
The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro will sport a 3.2-inch touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keypad, 8.1-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording and a 720 MHz processor. Check out more information about what the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro has to offer here, as it's basically a Vivaz with a QWERTY keypad. According to Sony Ericsson, the slide-out QWERTY keyboard is ultra-slim, making it almost as thin as the original Vivaz (only 2 mm thicker). The Vivaz Pro will be released in Q2 2010.
