The Samsung Monte S5620, LG Mini GD880 and LG GT350 offer touchscreen technology and social networking features for the mass-market.
Samsung and LG continue the race to offer the coolest cell phones, and three new touchscreen phones have now been unveiled. Social networking features are at heart, coupled with sleek designs and traditional multimedia features.
LG Mini GD880
The LG Mini GD880 is claimed to be the smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch full touchscreen phone on the market today, providing an aspect ratio of 16:9 widescreen that extends to the edge of the phone. It has textured metal accents on the sides, and a button-free front to keep it simple and sleek. The LG Mini promises easy connection to popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter through built-in applications, and a Social Network Feed provides instant and automatic updates of friends and family members on the home screen. Updates also appear next to each contact in the Social Address Book. The LG Mini boasts a 5-megapixel camera featuring face detection as well as image/video sharing to social networks. The phone also offers 7.2Mbps HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The LG Mini will be available in Europe starting in March, followed by other markets. Prices will vary country-to-country and will be announced separately in each market.
Samsung Monte S5620
The Samsung Monte S5620 will come equipped with TouchWiz 2.0 UI, and offers a suite of native social networking applications including Facebook and MySpace. Furthermore, the Samsung Monte offers advanced Twitter and Bebo widgets - and multi-IM capability - to provide users with the opportunity to chat in real-time via their chosen service. When using the mobile browser, a built-in accelerometer sensor will adjust the onscreen image when rotating the phone.
A range of other features are also found in the Samsung Monte, including Google Latitude, Exchange ActiveSync for access to Outlook email accounts, and Google Sync. This allows users to simultaneously update their social networks schedules and Outlook calendar.
The Samsung Monte comes equipped with a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 16:9, 3.2-megapixel camera with smile shot, panorama shot and face detection, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity. The phone also supports Smart Unlock and One finger zoom.
The Samsung Monte will be available in Europe this spring. Specific markets and pricing will be announced at a later time.
LG GT350
The LG GT350 offers a range of improvements upon its predecessor, the LG KS360. More specifically, the GT350 sports a fully touch enabled 3-inch WQVGA screen, four-line QWERTY keypad with hardware shortcut buttons to social networking sites as well as full integration with Facebook and Twitter. The LG GT350 also aggregates information from multiple social networks onto the screen, to make it easier to instantly check status updates, keep track of friends and respond to messages. The phone also supports push e-mail.
The LG GT350 will be available in Europe from this April and will then launch in other markets around the world. The phone will come in four color combinations including Aqua Blue, Purple, Light Silver, and Black, some of which will be exclusive to specific carriers. Pricing has yet to be announced.
