A Motorola Droid tweak gives Verizon Wireless' hottest smartphone a stable CPU speed of 800 MHz, as compared to the original 600 MHz.
A new Motorola Droid tweak created by AllDroid, lets users run the Verizon Wireless smartphone at an 800 MHz clock speed (as compared to 600 MHz) without making the phone unstable. The tweak has been tested up to 1.3 GHz clock speed, but more than doubling the speed makes the Motorola Droid very unstable.
By overclocking your Motorola Droid to 800 MHz, you should get a nice performance boost while experiencing a stable environment. That said, if the instructions found over at AllDroid makes no sense to you, the performance you're currently getting from the Motorola Droid should be more than sufficient.
The PowerVR chip inside the Droid provides hardware acceleration, meaning that unless you really, really want the Motorola Droid to be closer to the new 1GHz smartphones as far as CPU speed is concerned, that chip should provide your content with the power required to run smoothly.
