Steve Jobs claims that the Apple iPad will offer up to six days of music playback with the iPad's IPS display turned off.
According to Apple Insider, Steve Jobs said in a video interview that the Apple iPad will offer up to six days of music playback with the screen turned off. With the IPS display turned on, the iPad should last up to 10 hours.
Given Nokia promises up to 12 hours of battery life for its Booklet, 10 hours on the Apple iPad should be considered pretty acceptable. Steve Jobs also said that the Apple A4 chip inside the iPad hardly uses any power, but that the IPS display is the source of the power drain.
LG Display (formerly LG.Philips) is likely the manufacturer of the Apple iPad display. By using an IPS display, the Apple iPad is able to provide a consistent color reproduction from an angle of up to 178 degrees. This type of display should also offer fast response times for motion picture and stable image quality for touchscreens.
Needless to say, the Apple iPad will be a unique consumer device in that regard when hitting store shelves later this year.
