iPhone 4.0 is expected to be officially announced next week, yet details regarding the latest and greatest iPhone OS leaked out today.

Every iPhone addict out there eagerly awaits Apple's January 27 event, but it looks like Boy Genius Report has received the scoop of the month: iPhone 4.0 will provide a "few new ways" to run applications in the background, also heavily marketed as multitasking by competitors.

Although being ahead of the game in many graphical and UI ways, Apple doesn't seem to be resting on its laurels, as BGR's Apple source reveals that iPhone 4.0 will offer a range of improvements to navigation throughout the OS.
