Qualcomm has been talking about its upcoming Snapdragon products for a long while now, and there's now finally real action on the horizon: Meet the Lenovo Android Smartbook.
It's supposed to be officially announced at CES 2010, but Qualcomm and Lenovo are clearly eager to build up anticipation around Qualcomm's Smartbook concept. According to Silicon.com, Qualcomm showcased a range of hardware powered by its Snapdragon processor recently, including smartphones like the HTC HD2.
Another star of the show was Lenovo's new smartbook, powered by Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Android OS. According to Silicon.com, the Lenovo smartbook will offer up to eight hours of battery life, as well as always-on connectivity via 3G, Wi-Fi and other radios (Bluetooth, we assume).
When Nokia released the Booklet 3G recently, it turned out to appeal to the business crowd more than consumers. It's not hard to imagine that powerful Booklets and Smartbooks could become a nice companion to a QWERTY messaging phone. Google has already suggested that Android and Chrome will blend, to better compete with competing efforts we assume. There's also real money to be made in business and corporate products, which Windows currently holds a big market share in.
