AT&T has now enabled MMS billing for the iPhone, and users will get a software update providing MMS support on September 25.
iPhone users on AT&T's network were disappointed to learn that the carrier couldn't bill MMS usage on iPhone accounts back in June. However, AT&T has now performed the necessary upgrade to its system, and MMS support will be provided through a software update on September 25 for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers.
During the summer, there's also been an increasing focus on general network capacity on AT&T, and the carrier also uses the opportunity to let people know that they're now expanding 3G capacity by deploying 3G technology to its 850 MHz band. We honestly believed that AT&T was already offering dual-band 3G in key markets until we saw the news of 3G finally being deployed on the 850 MHz band - better late than never.
