An entry-level Android smartphone, the HTC Fiesta, seems to be heading to AT&T Wireless. Check out our in-depth look at what it'll offer here.
There's a new cell phone blog digging up interesting leaks wherever you turn your head nowadays, and this time Cellpassion has the scoop on yet another upcoming Android smartphone: the HTC Fiesta. According to Cellpassion a link to an internal HTC page indicates that the HTC Fiesta will be headed for AT&T Wireless.
The page (check it out here) reveals that the HTC Fiesta will be an entry-level device, similar to the Palm Centro. Interestingly T-Mobile looks destined to release a similar device in the HTC Click at some point. The HTC Fiesta will be powered by a standard ARM11 based processor, so don't expect to pull off any multimedia magic as far as processing is concerned - nothing that matches the iPhone 3GS at least.
We have no idea when the HTC Fiesta will be released, but with the recently released Samsung Solstice and iPhone 3GS touch phones, we guess AT&T customers shouldn't complain about the current selection of touch phones anyway. That said, the page also suggests that the HTC Fiesta will get a "PhoneKeypad" and a QVGA screen. Android currently supports QVGA and HVGA screen resolutions, and the high-end devices we've seen so far have been equipped with the latter.
To be honest, it would have been cool if the HTC Fiesta actually is a "cell phone powered by Android with no data plan requirement", similar to the recently released Nokia Surge which combines Symbian S60 with entry-level hardware at a low price. Anyway, we guess someone will spill the beans on what the HTC Fiesta is all about sooner rather than later.
