Sneaky Sony has added two siblings to join the Cyber-shot DSC-HX1. Meet the ultra secret Cyber-shot cameras to be announced soon.
According to Sony Insider, two Sony cameras are set to be announced by the end of the month, but the gig is up. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 and Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX1 have already surfaced on Provantage, listed as products that will be stocked soon.
So, what do we know about the new Cyber-shots? It appears as though the DSC-TX1 will feature a 10-megapixel CMOS chip with 720p video capability. The DSC-TX1 will also feature a 4x optical zoom G Series lens and a 3-inch LCD, all for under $400. Rumor has it the DSC-TX1 will flaunt a nifty curved sliding cover and ship in black, blue and pink, along with an additional color.
The DSC-WX1 boasts similar specs, only with a 5x optical zoom G Series lens and 2.7-inch optical zoom. The camera looks like it will retail for a little less than the Cyber-shot DSC-TX1. Like the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1, there is talk of the Panorama Sweep feature trickling down to one of the new models, but there's no word on which one.
Although these are still rumors, an online retailer has already listed the products and Sony Insider has given the new cams the green light. Though this information is tentative, we're pretty sure we're going to be seeing two brand new Cyber-shots by the end of the month. Design wise, we expect to see scaled-down versions of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1, which retailed for $500.
The new cameras will be the more budget-friendly incarnations of the Cyber-shot DSC-HX1, so we're sure a few features will have fallen off the delivery truck. The reduced zooms and 720p video are reflective of the purported price tags, and the new Cyber-shots should greet beginners and budget shooters with ease. A ship date, additional specs and product images are still mysteries at the moment.
