If you don't care about accessing AT&T's 3G HSDPA network with the BlackBerry Bold, the carrier will soon offer the BlackBerry Curve 8900.
AT&T today announced the early summer availability of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone (specs). AT&T customers will get new features and enhanced performance, including Wi-Fi connectivity, AT&T Navigator with audible turn-by-turn directions, a fast next generation processor, multimedia capabilities and ample memory for applications offered from AT&T.
Users who select an unlimited plan with the BlackBerry Curve 8900 will also receive free AT&T Wi-Fi access at nearly 20,000 hotspots in the U.S. - including retail stores, restaurants and airports. The smartphone can also connect to a home or office Wi-Fi network.
The BlackBerry Curve 8900 for AT&T sports a slim design and is the thinnest full-QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone to date. It features a high-res display (480 by 360 pixels), 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus and digital image stabilization and a microSD/SDHC memory slot. AT&T will offer the BlackBerry Curve 8900 in a silver and black finish.
The BlackBerry Curve 8900 also comes with a removable/rechargeable battery that promises a talk time of 5.5 hours and approximately 15 days of standby time. The smartphone supports Quad-band GSM/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), so the BlackBerry Bold will continue to be AT&T's BlackBerry choice for 3G HSDPA addicts.
