LG has set a few records with their new Backlight LED HDTVs. The Micro Audio sound bar is not too shabby either. Read the full story here.
LG FB44 Micro Audio System
Looking for a mini bar to place in your living room? LG has the answer. But instead of stocking Jack Daniels and Captain Morgan, their new FB44 Micro Audio sound bar packs in 5.1 Channel Virtual Sound Matrix speakers and a built-in iPod dock. Up close, the LG FB44 looked as though it belonged in the MoMA, brimming with Dadaist readymade potential. Sleek, lustrous lines and a cool blue light radiating from behind the swiveling CD door join forces to create a beautiful sight. The touch-sensitive control panel just pumps the swank to the max.
If an iPod is on your electronics "to-buy" list, the LG FB44 offers an Audio in jack and HDMI out. A headphone jack is also built-in for those moments when you just have to rock out solo, next to your shiny new bar of sound. Other connections include USB direct recording and play and TV Sound ez set-up with optical in. If the radio is your bag, the LG FB44 has a tuner and a slew of sound options, including XDSS (Extreme Dynamic Sound System), EQ with presets like Natural and Rock and VSM (Virtual Sound Matrix), which is a surround function. The LG FB44 is one mini sound bar that might be worth paying a hefty cover for. Release: Spring 2009.
LG 55LHX and LG 55LH90 LED-backlit LCD HDTVs
The LG 55LHX is a thin sheet of Backlight LED HDTV goodness, in fact, the "World's Slimmest", according to LG, measuring in at under one inch in thickness. At CES, the LG 55LHX looked like a glossy poster frame with a full 1080P screen. The new LG 55LHX is more eco-friendly, reducing power consumption by a remarkable 73% by dimming the backlight, which is a bit easier on the eyes as well. The LG 55LHX has a TrueMotion 240Hz refresh rate, which promises one of the fastest response times at 2 milliseconds.
LG aimed to quash the norm by incorporating between 1,000 to 1,500 backlights, compared to the common 300 to 400, offering a much smoother and more natural picture. The best part about the LG 55LHX is that it's entirely wireless, aside from a lone power cord. All DVD players, game consoles and top boxes are attached to a separate unit with a 30 foot range. The LG 55LH90 shares the same traits with the LG 55LHX, only it's slightly thicker, more stylish and requires cables. We're seeing a lot of TV bling with the introduction of the LG 55LHX and LG 55LH90. Release: Spring 2009.
LG Watch Phone
We've seen big, clunky watch phones before, but nothing nearly as clever and elegant as the LG GD910 Watch phone. The LG Watch phone looks like a sleek, albeit somewhat large watch, and under the customizable clocks on the outside (it is a watch, after all) hides a surprisingly robust multimedia phone. How robust? Full preview...
