Nokia today announced that the Nokia E63, a QWERTY messaging phone designed for a broader audience compared to the Nokia E71, will get a U.S. release in the coming weeks. The Nokia E63 will be sold for $280 without a contract. The smartphone will offer support for AT&T's 3G WCMDA network, giving a theoretical maximum download/upload speed of 384/384 Kbps.
Furthermore, the Nokia E63 sports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR connectivity, as well as Nokia's Mini Map full HTML browser and Nokia Maps for GPS navigation. A 2-megapixel camera has also been included, though it's not of the Carl Zeiss optics kind. It's also got a 3.5mm audio jack for connection of your favorite headphones.
Nokia will promote the Nokia E63 as a smartphone combining your personal and business life, and will offer users the ability to switch modes with a single key press, switching from a view of corporate mail, appointments and intranet data, to a personal mode with a picture of friends, personal e-mail and shortcuts to favorite blogs or websites. The Nokia E63 also includes Files on Ovi, and customers will have access to 1GB of online file storage for free.
The Nokia E63 will be available in ruby red or ultramarine blue and purchased unlocked through various retail channels in the United States, including Nokia's own stores and a number of independent retailers and e-tailers.
