Today Samsung announced what appears to be a scaled-down model of a subway car from the future. The Samsung HMX-R10 is one of the most peculiar looking High-Definition camcorders we've ever come across. The lens is angled upward at 25-degrees, to prevent wrist fatigue and the Samsung HMX-R10 is exceedingly compact. We love its brushed silver body, even though the camcorder looks like an oversized silver bullet or swanky flashlight.
Inside, the Samsung HMX-R10 has a 9-megapixel 1/2.33" CMOS sensor, which means this camcorder is geared toward digital imaging. Aside from being able to capture 9-megapixel still images, the Samsung HMX-R10 has a 5x optical zoom and records full-HD video via SD/SDHC cards.
Samsung managed to cram a 2.7" LCD on the Samsung HMX-R10, in addition to HDMI and Component terminals. No word on Image Stabilization yet, but the tiny Samsung HMX-R10 will certainly need a sufficient shake reduction system due to its miniscule size.
We can't wait to see the reactions of innocent bystanders when we test this strange thing in public. The Samsung HMX-R10 is set to ship this summer.
