Lenovo surprised with several innovative solutions at the CES show floor. Check out a feature-rich mobile workstation, a new 16-inch multimedia laptop and more inside.
Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds
If you're used to working with two monitors in the office, the Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds will do whatever it takes to accommodate your needs while traveling. On the right side of its 17-inch primary screen, you'll find an additional slide-out 10.6-inch screen. Better yet, you can adjust the supplementary screen's viewing angle by up to 30 degrees, similar to how a car's rear view mirror tilts. Photographers will love the built-in UDMA compact flash reader, as well as Dual Link DVI and DisplayPort support. Select models also support WiMAX. The Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds is available now with a starting price of $3663.
Lenovo IdeaPad S10
For the first-time home PC user, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 has been on the market for a while. However, it's now been upgraded with new multimedia and networking tools for social networking enthusiasts, ranging from newbies to the most social of socialites. If you're tired of Facebook, the new LenovoSocial app will act as a portal to all the other great stuff out there. With VeriFace facial recognition technology, users will also be granted access to their netbook in a high-tech way. Lastly, the updated S10 will offer a Quick Start app for quicker access to frequently used applications. The catch? You'll have to wait until March to shell out $450 for this one.
Lenovo IdeaPad Y650
Continuing its screen fixation, Lenovo had the new widescreen 16-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 on display in Las Vegas. Aiming to compete as one of the thinnest and lightest 16-inch laptops, it weighs in at a mere 5.6 pounds. JBL speakers have been integrated for a richer sound experience, while NVIDIA GFX discrete graphics will provide an improved gaming experience and HD video playback. The exact performance remains to be seen, but it's promised to offer the latest Intel processors as well as DDR3 memory. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 will be released in March, starting at $1200 for the bare bones model.
Lenovo IdeaCentre A600
The Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 is an all-in-one desktop, boasting a 21.5-inch frameless screen with full HD resolution. The main artery of this living room creature is Windows Vista Media Center, which, combined with 1TB of storage, will let you access videos, music and other content more easily. Of course, with HDTVs getting integrated multimedia capabilities of all kinds nowadays, and stand-alone Blu-ray players on sale wherever you go, the all-in-one desktop concept still comes down to five short words: Do I Really Need One? In addition to an optional digital TV tuner for easy TV show ripping and sharing, Lenovo has come up with a 4-in-1 remote control that can also be used as a VOIP handset to make you come up with the right answer. If you've got money to burn, the Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 will be available in March with a starting price of $1000.
