2009 is apparently the year of Color for the camcorder world, and the Panasonic SDR-SW21 (gallery), SDR-S15 (gallery) and SDR-S26 (gallery) are strutting their standard-definition stuff via vivid hues. All three camcorders are ultra-compact and record to SD cards.
The Panasonic SDR-SW21 is a rugged little bugger, flaunting an ability to be submerged in water down to 6.5 feet and a drop-proof distance of 4 feet. The Panasonic SDR-SW21 is also dustproof and comes in Lime Green, Orange or Silver. We can't wait to give this little soldier a run for its money when we get our hands on one.
The Panasonic SDR-S15 is compact and stylish, appealing to club hoppers and fashion-conscious consumers. The SDR-S15 features Intelligent Auto (iA) mode and comes in Black, Silver and, brace yourself, Chocolate. We'll see how yummy the video quality is when we get our hands on one. Both the Panasonic SDR-SW21 and SDR-S15 feature a 0.6-second Quick-Start function and are equipped with built-in VideoCam Suite software for easy YouTube uploading.
Now the Panasonic SDR-S26 is a smart looking camcorder with its black trim and tantalizing color options consisting of Champagne, Black, Blue or Red. But perhaps the most profound, or, absurd feature is its 70x optical zoom, a first for camcorders. We're talking spy-grade magnification here. More features include Advanced Optical Image Stabilization, Intelligent Auto mode, Face Detection and built-in VideoCam Suite software.
The Panasonic SDR-SW21, SDR-S15 and SDR-S26 will ship in April, and should sell for approximately $400, $300 and $330, respectively.
