Motorola Renew recyclable phone coming to T-MobileBy Sindre Lia, Tuesday 6 January 2009
T-Mobile customers will soon get a recyclable phone in the Motorola Renew, featuring basic functionality as well as an optional 2GB removable memory.

As its name suggests the Motorola Renew is made of a plastic housing that is 100 percent recyclable. It's also the world's first carbon neutral phone. More specifically, the Motorola Renew is made from plastic comprised of recycled bottles, which means 20 percent less energy is needed to create the phone compared to standard plastic processes.

Further adding to its green technology concept, the Motorola Renew comes with an in-box postage-paid recycling envelope that should make it easier to return your previous mobile phone for recycling. Don't expect to replace your high-end multimedia phone with the Motorola Renew though, as its list of features doesn't completely match the groundbreaking design.

The Motorola Renew is primarily a calling and messaging phone offering up to nine hours of talk time and CrystalClear technology. The idea here is simple: Do less with your phone, so you can charge less and reduce your energy usage. As an added bonus, it'll be sold with an optional 2GB removable memory for music playback. A WAP browser is also included, so it should be an easy task downloading ringtones and wallpapers.

The Motorola Renew will be available during the first quarter of 2009, with T-Mobile USA as the first carrier to subsidize it.
