LG U890
Score: 85% When: June 2006 What: Phones, Clamshell phones
The U890's appeal lies in its achievement of getting the basics right - with the exception of its poorly designed numerical keypad, which presents something of a bump in the road. Nevertheless, this clamshell packs a good amount of features into a slim form factor with 3G capabilities including snappy transfer speeds and video calls among the main selling points along with a nice display. Compared to higher-end models, the handset's browser, integrated music player and camera are of the mediocre sort - but as matched with its closest competitors, the U890 does quite well for itself. LG KG800
Score: 70% When: May 2006 Worth: €500 What: Slim phones, Fashion phones
With the KG800, LG clearly made the decision to keep specifications on the down low in order to bring forward a small, light and supremely stylish handset - although its price tag claims otherwise. Its feature set - including a mediocre camera and music player - compares reasonably well to other slim and fashion phones; its most aggravating fault is the lagging text input, which stands in contrast to its responsive touch-sensitive navigational controls. This is a handset for those who primarily call and text, and want to look good doing it. More...

LG U880
Score: 65% When: November 2005 Worth: €500 What: 3G phones, Slim phones
If we were to sum up the LG U880 in a sentence, we’d say it gets the basics right. An excellent keypad serves to interact with a crisp and bright internal display which handles video calls and streaming with aplomb. Despite its slim and streamlined clamshell design, battery life is also more than acceptable, and the handset’s only real drawbacks is its somewhat exaggerated claim of being a music phone and only average performance on behalf of its camera. These niggles aside, the LG U880 comes highly recommended. More...

LG P7200
Score: 60% When: November 2005 Worth: €450 What: Camera phones, Slim phones
The LG P7200 offers an impressive set of high-end features, gracing it all with a slim clamshell form factor complete with a Transformer-style front cover stunt which renders the handset a dedicated camera look-a-like by the flick of a wrist. Its most notable flaws include falling short on text input and performing only on average with regard to its camera and music player capabilities. As such, eager texters should stay away, but everyone else on the hunt for a slim clamshell would be well served by the P7200. More...

LG M6100
Score: 55% When: June 2006 Worth: €200 What: Fashion phones, LG phones
It's not that the tri-band LG M6100 is particularly bad; it's just not distinctive, which goes both for its feature set and design. Modestly attractive, the handset's biggest advantage is its compact size and light weight (88 g), while 128 MB of onboard memory provides roomy storage for a decent 1.3 Megapixel camera. Lacking memory expansion renders the music player somewhat useless, but the handset does provide excellent voice quality for calls - for as long as they last, with talk time clocking in at 2 hours and standby at 6 days. Hosted on a cramped screen, the user interface proved mostly intuitive, although slightly lagging during text input from the backlit keypad.

LG KG320
When: August 2006 Worth: €325 What: Phones, Slim phones
Rarely have we seen a slim phone which leaves such an admirable first impression. The elegantly designed KG320 is a handset which doesn't compromise on ergonomics in order to achieve a slimmer form factor, resulting in the inclusion of a high-quality keypad and an excellent display in a wafer-thin form factor. Advanced functionality is expectedly absent, however, given its modest battery life; a 1.3 Megapixel camera and a useless music player sans memory expansion is as good as it gets. More...

LG KG920
When: August 2006 What: Gadgets, Camera phones
At 5 Megapixels, LG's KG920 is Europe's highest-resolution camera phone thus far, also throwing in a 4x optical zoom lens and aufofocus for good measure. Unfortunately, initial impressions reveal so-so camera performance and a bulky swivel design, as well as sub-par keypad usability and a general lack of attention towards phone functionality. On the upside, the handset does include an excellent high-resolution display and a bundled 256 MB memory card to alleviate the woeful 8 MB of onboard memory. More...
