Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970
Score: 90% When: July 2006 Worth: €125 What: Bluetooth headsets
Small, yet powerful; Sony Ericsson's HBH-DS970 delivers excellent audio through comfortable earpieces with an easy-to-use interface and enough battery juice to last all but the most avid users a day. Our only gripe with the headset is its lack of a clothes clip, as its pendant design will cause it to bounce uncontrollably around while you walk or land it in a bowl of soup; if this isn't a problem, go fetch - you won't regret. Jabra BT620s
Score: 85% When: April 2006 Worth: €100 What: Bluetooth headsets
Aside from its tendency to chafe when worn for longer periods of time, the somewhat rotund BT620s is quite the performer. Intuitive controls, a reasonable range and quality audio make for a highly enjoyable experience, while the headset can keep streaming music for up to 9 hours; enough for a full work day or even a transcontinental flight. Although double the price of comparable wired solutions, it’s hard not to envision the BT620s charming wallets open as mono headsets of comparable quality sell in a similar price range at the time of writing. Jabra JX10
Score: 85% When: January 2006 Worth: €100 What: Bluetooth headsets
A style-conscious 10 g featherweight, Jabra's JX10 is one of the smallest and best designed headsets we've reviewed with its superbly comfortable, user-adjustable fit - which, unfortunately, is countered by a hard rubberized speaker which negates multi-hour use. Audio quality proved very good throughout testing, as did range and reception; an intuitive overall experience, USB charging and a talk time clocking in at 4 hours and 30 minutes - more than decent considering its size - dots the i and crosses the t. Nextlink Bluespoon AX2
Score: 81% When: October 2005 Worth: €100 What: Bluetooth headsets
Every bit as small and comfortable as its predecessor, the Bluespoon AX2 succeds in improving on functionality without sacrificing any of its existing benefits. Improved battery life and signal reception contribute to making the AX2 an excellent choice, yet although audio quality is very good on the wearer’s end, the analog nature of this headset renders wind and background noise a noticeable problem - ironically, this is also what keeps the price tag modest. As long as users mostly traverse quiet or enclosed areas, the AX2 will offer solid bang for buck. More...

Sony Ericsson HBH-610
Score: 80% When: October 2005 Worth: €115 What: Bluetooth headsets
From a technical and performance perspective, the Sony Ericsson HBH-610 impresses with its broad set of functionality including noise reduction, automatic volume adjustment and echo cancellation. Bluetooth 2.0 is also a nice bonus for forward compatibility, but has little impact in the current jungle of handset where version 2.0 of the standard has nary a follower to date. Unfortunately, the handset loses a few points on the note of comfort as its loop style design could not be worn over longer periods of time without chafing, and battery life was merely adequate. Nokia BH-800
Score: 80% When: April 2006 Worth: €150 What: Phones, Bluetooth headsets
As much a fashion accessory as it is a headset, Nokia's BH-800 mono Bluetooth headset puts on a good show despite its compact size. Its mediocre range and average battery life are likely both consequences of its design, while the rubber-encircled speaker insert is less so; still, comfort is quite good once the initial (and cumbersome) adaptation has been carried out, and the headset's easily-distinguished keys and good quality further contribute to a positive overall impression.
